Marion Island Hut Poetry |Katedraal

Katedraal is a field hut on the sub-Antarctic Marion Island. Read below how a team member (Kim Stevens, Birder) of M73 (previous also on M70) describes the walk from the Marion Island base to Katedraal Hut (read the full article here). Even though the walk seems straight forward, field assistant lost their way countless times on the way to this hut. The Marion Island Interior can be a mysterious place. Kim also mentions the Poetry book at Katedraal. This book was made by a Marion Island overwintering team member part of M60 (2013), Erika Nortje (Field Assistant Entomology & Deputy Leader). Read the poem by M70 (later again in M73) team member , about the wind and the weather…

We also look forward sharing the Katedraal ‘Hut Review’ of the current team (M75) with you soon!
