Die 2011 MPhil in Antieke Kulture studente saam met die dosente en administratiewe personeel van die Departement Antieke Studie./The 2011 MPhil in Ancient Cultures students with lecturers and administrative staff of the Department of Ancient Studies.
MPhil in Antieke Kulture: Seminaar 23-26 Mei 2011
’n Groep van 23 nuwe studente in die MPhil (Antieke Kulture) program het van 23-26 Mei 2011 ’n seminaar op Stellenbosch bygewoon.
Die program gee aan die kulture van die Ou Nabye Ooste (Egipte, Mesopotamië, Siro-Palestina en Persië) en die klassieke wêreld (Griekeland en Rome) aandag. Die doel van hierdie interdissiplinêre program is om studente toe te rus met kennis van die kulture van die antieke wêreld en spesifieke aspekte van hulle kultuur (bv. godsdiens, letterkunde, kuns, samelewings), asook die verstaan van die vormende invloed van hierdie kulture op hedendaagse kulture, waardes en instellings.
MPhil in Ancient Cultures: Seminar 23-26 May 2011
A group of 23 new students in the MPhil (Ancient Cultures) programme attended a seminar from 23-26 May in Stellenbosch.
The programme focuses on the cultures of the Ancient Near East (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Siro-Palestine and Persia) and the classical world (Greece and Rome). The aim of this interdisciplinary programme is to equip students with knowledge of the cultures of the ancient world and specific aspects of their culture (e.g. religion, literature, art, societies), as well as an understanding of the formative influence of these cultures upon present-day cultures, values and institutions.
