Code of Conduct for Computer Users Areas…

Please read the following code of conduct and abide by the rules as far as possible. This code of conduct applies to all CUAs (Computer Users Areas) of Stellenbosch University. Failure to abide by the approved Code of Conduct by students will result in disciplinary action.

Cellphones...

Cellphones must be switched off at all times while inside the CUA

 

Eating and drinking...

 

No food or drinks, including alcohol and chewing gum, is permitted within the CUA. CUA personnel will identify an area where fod and drinks may be permitted.

 

Smoking...

 

Smoking is not permitted on the Tygerberg Campus.

 

General behaviour...

 

Behavior should be orderly and quiet at all times. Other users may not be disturbed

 

Workstation cleaniness...

 

Workstations must be left neat and clean at all times. No papers, or other litter may be left behind. Chairs should be neatly replaced.

 

Notices...

 

No posters or notices may be placed in CUA without the express permission of the CUA Manager

 

Wheel-free zone...

 

With the exception of of wheelchairs, CUAs and their access corridors are “wheelfree” zones. No bikes, skateboards, rollerskates, scooters maybe brought into the CUA.

 

Pets...

 

With the exception of guide dogs and mobility assistance dogs, no pets are permitted inside CUAs

 

Computers and furniture...

 

All computer equipment, printers and furniture, may not be damaged by users.

 

Requests...

 

Reasonable requests from CUA personnel may not be ignored or refused. This includes the following: Security incidents, evacuation to complete maintenance, moving of individuals to accommodate group bookings etc.

 

Bookings...

 

Booking of areas must comply to the procedures of the particular CUA of the faculty.

 

Connecting of equipment...

 

No equipment may be connected to or disconnected from CUA computers and equipment without the express permission of the CUA personnel. The only exceptions will be USB flash disks, USB external hard-drives and headphones.

Access to CUAs...

 

Access to the CUA areas may only be obtained by the users own student card. Student and Personnel Cards must be available and visible at all times for identification purposes.
