Africa is the focus of our Global Week ( previously International Week) celebrations this semester. Aptly titled Global Africa Week we promised full programme celebrating Africa and the World. We are partnering with the Stellenbosch University Student Representative Council, the Alumni Relations Office, Maties Sport, the African Students Board and Africa Matters to bring you a host of exciting events. Some of the events (see programme) to look forward to are; the Africa Week Summit, Film screenings, International Day of University Sports, the #SU99 campaign, Study Abroad Fair, World Café and an African Gala Dinner. We invite you to join and take part in activities and discussions.
In the past we hosted an international week only in the first semester of every academic year, but because the second semester feels so awfully quiet we decided that we need another international week – with a difference. You could describe it as the small sister of the big international week in the first semester. But don’t for a moment think it is less impactful, on the contrary it is all about impact since we aim to celebrate and share international experiences on campus – and through this celebration we want to nurture an open and global mindset. And hopefully this will encourage other SU students to take up these great opportunities.
For 2017, the International Week has also been renamed as the Global Week, to bring it in line with the reorganization of the PGIO as SU International.
