Ockert Dupper is the Director of Accountability at the Fair Labor Association in Washington, DC. He was Professor of Law, University of Stellenbosch from 1996-2012 where he taught labour law and social security law. He was also the co-director of the Centre for International and Comparative Labour and Social Security Law (CICLASS). He has published widely on a number of topics, including employment discrimination, affirmative action, the extension of social protection, unemployment insurance, and the rights of migrant workers. He regularly consulted to the International Labour Organization (ILO), and as a consultant to the Institute for Social Law and Policy (ISLP) and the International Institute for Social Law and Policy (IISLP), he has been involved in a range of social security-related projects for various South African government departments and agencies. He received his BA from the University of Stellenbosch, his LLB from the University of Cape Town, and his LLM and SJD from Harvard Law School, where he was a Fulbright scholar. He also spent a year at the Harvard University Center for Ethics and the Professions as the Edmond J Safra Faculty Fellow in Ethics.
