Monja Posthumus-Meyjes joined the Law Clinic in 2014. She completed her LLB and a Certificate in Advanced Labour Law at the University of Pretoria. Before joining the Law Clinic she was in private practice, where she specialised in family law and labour law. Monja is a qualified mediator. Her research interests include Hague abductions and arbitration as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism in divorces.

In 2018 Monja obtained her LLM from Stellenbosch University, her research focussed on accessibility to white collar jobs for persons with intellectual disabilities. Her LLM thesis was featured in SU’s Research 100, which featured 100 research topics in a special Centenary year publication. In 2018 Monja also completed a Certificate in Compliance Management through the University of Cape Town.

Within the Stellenbosch University Law Clinic Monja acts as a litigation attorney specialising in family- and children’s law. She supports students taking part in the Practical Legal Training module.

Monja is passionate about impact litigation, and spearheaded the Tampon Tax submissions to National Treasury, which resulted in sanitary pads being included in the basket of zero-rated VAT items. Monja was also instrumental in the settlement agreement between Hendri Herbst and Durbanville Hills Wine Farm.

Monja Posthumus-Meyjes het in 2014 by die Regskliniek aangesluit. Sy het haar LLB en ʼn Sertifikaat in Gevorderde Arbeidsreg aan die Universiteit van Pretoria voltooi. Voordat sy by die Regskliniek aangesluit het, was sy in die privaatpraktyk waar sy in familie- en arbeidsaangeleenthede gespesialiseer het. Monja is ook ʼn gekwalifiseerde bemiddelaar. Haar navorsingsbelangstellings sluit in Hague ontvoerings en arbitrasie as ʼn alternatiewe geskilbeslegtingsmeganisme in egskeidings.

Monja het in 2018 haar LLM aan die Universiteit Stellenbosch verwerf; haar navorsingsfokus was toegang tot witboordjie werksgeleenthede vir persone met intellektuele gestremdhede. Haar LLM-tesis is in die US se Navorsing 100 ingesluit, wat 100 navorsingsonderwerpe uitlig as deel van ʼn spesiale Eeufeespublikasie. Monja het ook in 2018 ʼn Sertifikaat in Nakomingsbestuur deur die Universiteit van Kaapstad voltooi.

By die Universiteit Stellenbosch Regskliniek tree Monja as litigasie prokureur op, en spesialiseer in familie- en kinderreg. Sy ondersteun ook studente wat aan die Praktiese Regsopleiding module deelneem.

Monja is passievol oor impaklitigasie, en het die Tamponbelasting-voorleggings aan die Nasionale Tesourie gedryf. Hierdie voorleggings het daartoe gelei dat sanitêre doekies ingesluit is in die mandjie van nul-gegradeerde BTW-items (BTW vrygestelde items kan dalk ook werk). Monja het ʼn deurslaggewende rol gespeel in die skikkingsooreenkoms tussen Hendri Herbst en Durbanville Hills Wynplaas.
