Post-doctoral position in plant molecular and cell biology at IPB

The project:
Title: Ectopic expression of transcription factors in transgenic suspension cells of a range of medicinal plants and sugarcane and global study of the effects induced. Different constructs will be generated to over-express a range of different transcription factors from Arabidopsis, transformed into callus of different Salvia species, Pelargonium sidoides, Hapargophytum procumbens and sugarcane. Transformed lines will be selected and taken into callus suspension cultures to be analyzed for the changes that are induced with respect to gene expression and metabolism.

Transgenic lines that show profound changes in metabolism will be regenerated into intact plants and characterized in depth with respect to their biochemistry and physiology.

Requirements for the position
The successful candidate should:
- have a strong background in plant molecular and cell biology
- have in depth experience in plant biochemistry and physiology
- have knowledge and insight into the analytical techniques for the global analysis of gene expression and metabolism
