Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship: Department of Microbiology

Position: Stellenbosch University supports a system for postdoctoral research fellowships in line with its ideal for developing a stimulating research environment where new knowledge and skills can be developed, shared and applied to the benefit of the South African community. A postdoctoral position is currently available for one year (with the option to renew for an additional 6 months).

Research: The main research focus of the project will the construction and screening of metatranscriptome libraries enriched for eukaryotic mRNA’s for fructofuranosidase enzymes for the synthesis of fructo-oligosaccharides. Furthermore, classic screening regimes for culturable microbes will also be conducted. The project is made possible by PlantBio.Requirements: A PhD in Microbiology obtained within the past five years, with a strong background in cDNA library construction, molecular biology and yeast biotechnology.
