Come join us at the ’BoschFest, says Rector
“I have been cherishing the idea of a festival for alumni for a long time. The idea appealed to both Council and to the President of the Convocation and the decision was therefore an easy one to make: many of our alumni are annual holiday makers in the Boland and surrounding areas in December, so why not create the opportunity for the greater family of alumni to meet, to have some good conversations and to pick up on old friendships?”
These are the words of Prof Russel Botman, Rector and Vice-Chancellor of Stellenbosch University, in an article in the December edition of Matieland, the alumni magazine, to be published in the next few days. In the article Prof Botman invites MatiesAlumni to attend the first ever ’BoschFest, to be held in Stellenbosch in December.
The ’BoschFest will also take place at the same time as the December graduation ceremonies and therefore the idea is for current Maties, who will graduate in December, together with their parents – of whom many are graduates too, to join in the festivities.
According to Prof Botman the ’BoschFest is not only about seeing old friends, but also about experiences. “To this end the Alumni Office has compiled an exciting programme of activities – from academic discussions to wine tasting and a number of other fun activities for the whole family in and around Stellenbosch.”
The ’BoschFest will end off with a cocktail function at Coetzenburg after which the Annual General Meeting of the Convocation will take place in the DF Malan Memorial Centre.
“I am looking forward in welcoming you to the ‘Bos’ on 9 and 10 December!” Prof Botman said.
