SU signs agreement with Chinese university
Stellenbosch University (SU) has signed an agreement with the Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU) in Jinhau in the Zhejiang province in China. A delegation from ZJNU, lead by their president (as the rector of the university is called), Prof Wu Fengmin, visited the SU campus on Tuesday.
The collaboration agreement will build on the research contacts of the Centre for Chinese Studies (CCS) at SU and the Institute for African Studies (IAS) at ZJNU, the oldest organisation of its kind in China (http://ias.zjnu.cn/en/ ). Dr Hu Mei, a researcher at the IAS, recently spent three months at Stellenbosch where he and Ms Sanne Mars-van der Lugt, did research on a comparison of the development collaboration that China and South Africa respectively are undertaking in Africa.
The agreement creates the framework for joint research, student mobility and the participation of international students in SU short programmes.
