Workshop in Scientific Writing Skills for Theses and Dissertations

The Writing Lab is presenting their Workshop in Scientific Writing Skills for Theses and Dissertations on 27-30 September. This workshop is an accredited short course and participants will receive a certificate of attendance. The purpose of the workshop is to provide a general introduction to the writing skills required for producing and organising information in theses and dissertations.

The main topics will be the following:

• Audience and purpose
• Structure and headings
• Introductions and conclusions
• The literature review
• Style
• Paragraphing
• Argumentation
• The abstract 

The workshop will run from 13:30-16:30. The cost for each participant is R550 and includes notes, refreshments and the certificate.  The workshop will be presented in English and/or Afrikaans, depending on the participants’ requirements.
