USBD warns of vehicle theft on campus
US students and personnel are reminded to be vigilant against vehicle theft on campus. Tendencies indicate that older fabricate vehicles like VW, Toyota, Fiat and Isuzu are being targeted. In the most cases suspects target vehicles white in colour.
Information was received of suspicious people in two vehicles – a white Toyota Corolla with four occupants as well as a red Isuzu bakkie with two occupants. The registration numbers on both vehicles are changed regularly. Contact the USBD immediately in case these vehicles are spotted on campus.
Avoid parking your vehicle in isolated areas. Park your vehicle in a well-lit area during night time. When leaving your vehicle, ensure that the windows are properly closed and doors are locked. A gear-lock is the best form of preventing vehicle theft.
- Report any suspicious persons or activities to the USBD at 021-808 2330/2333.
