Tickets still available for Stellenbosch Extravaganza

Gerald Clark
André Schwartz, Koos Kombuis, Alta Joubert and Gerald Clark. These are just a few of the well-known artists that will be performing at a gala concert in the Endler Hall on Thursday 1 September.
There are still some tickets available for the event that forms part of the 90th birthday celebrations of Dagbreek Men’s Residence in Stellenbosch.
“Quite a large number of well-known Stellenbosch artists, including an impressive group of young and upcoming Maties, will be taking part. In that sense it is definitely not only for those with Dagbreek ties,” says Francois Fouche, organiser of the event.
“It is very unusual for such a great number of the ‘big names’ to share the stage. It is not only the quality of those performing, but also the diversity in genres that makes it a special night – surely an evening to be remembered.”

André Schwartz
André Schwartz has been regarded by Sir Andrew Lloyd as one of the best performers of the Phantom role worldwide – a definite highlight of the evening. The event will also see performances by Adriaan de Beer, a founder member of DNA Strings, and the Pieter Hoepfner-band with legendary Stellenbosch songs such as Kagiso en Sanso.
Master of ceremonies will be Pedro Camara, especially known for his role in 7de Laan.
The Eiffel Choir, the serenade group of Dagbreek, as well as the Nerina serenade group will also be performing. Nerina will represent Stellenbosch at the national serenade competition this year.
On the classic side there is Roshan Chakane the winner of many piano competitions. Jason Rodriques will conduct the Stellenbosch University Faculty of Health Sciences Orchestra. Both Roshan and Rodriques are current residents of Dagbreek.
Winand Grundlin won the ATKV organ competition in 2010; the jazz sounds of the ESP Band and singer sensation Sima will add magic to the evening. Needing no introduction is Koos Kombuis - a Stellenbosch legend. Alta Joubert won a SAMA this year and her performance with Henry Steele will also prove to be something special. The gypsy sounds of Manouche will get the feet tapping while Gerald Clark is a master on guitar with songs from blues to Afrikaans folk songs.
The ATKV and Drostdy Hof are the main sponsors of the evening.
