Applied mathematics stars honoured

Attending the prize giving ceremony were (from left) Daniek Joubert (best honours student), Jan Buys (best third year student), Marché Cowling (Cambridge University Press), Erasmus du Toit (best second year student) and Prof André Weideman (head of the Division of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematical Sciences (Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science at Stellenbosch University).
The top students in applied mathematics at Stellenbosch University were recently honoured for their academic achievements.
They received book prizes sponsored by Cambridge University Press at a function held recently by the Division of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematical Sciences (Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science).
Daniek Joubert was named as the best honours student, while Jan Buys received the award as the best third year student in applied mathematics. Erasmus du Toit was the best second year student, with Gerard Louw as the top first year student.
Andrea von Flotow was named as the top female third year student in applied mathematics, and won a gift pack from L’Oreal South Africa.
