International Men’s Hockey at Coetzenburg
The South African Men’s Hockey team will cross swords with their counterparts from Great Britain in two international test matches to be hosted at Coetzenburg in the coming days. The matches will take place on Tuesday, 7 February and Saturday, 11 February respectively, with both starting at 19:00.
The tests form part of a three-test series between South Africana and Great Britain, with the first test taking place at Hartleyvale in Cape Town on Friday, 3 February. The series forms part of crucial preparation for both teams’ respective international campaigns. Great Britain will be competing at the Olympic Games in London, while South Africa will soon attempt to qualify for this international showpiece when they take part in a qualifying tournament to be held in Japan during April.
“Coetzenburg is a highly sought after venue for international hockey, and in the past it has hosted numerous international women’s teams, including the likes of Germany, the Netherlands and Australia,” says Ms Jackie Wiese, Director of Maties Sport. “However, this will be the first time that international men’s hockey will be hosted at the current hockey complex, and we certainly look forward to two exciting clashes of the highest standard.”
Entrance fees for the two tests at Coetzenburg will be R30 for adults and R10 for scholars respectively. For further information, visit the Maties Hockey website at www.sun.ac.za/hockey
