Vehicle thieves are currently targeting the campus

Risk & Protection Services (R&PS) are currently experiencing an increase in reports of motor vehicle theft on Stellenbosch campus. The area of Neethling street has been targeted the past week.  It also appears that white vehicles and especially Toyota and Ford brands are in demand by vehicle thieves. Information from the local SAPS indicates the same tendency in the town area.

A gear-lock is the best form of preventing vehicle theft whilst the choice of parking area also plays a role. Vehicle owners should park where there is constant movement and in well-lit areas. Windows and doors should be properly closed and locked.

Students and personnel are reminded to report any suspicious persons or activities immediately at the R&PS emergency number 021-808 2333.
