Rector in Sweden

Stellenbosch University Rector and Vice-Chancellor Prof Russel Botman is in Sweden on invitation of Dalarna University.

On Monday, 13 August 2012 he visited Tällberg, where he addressed the vice-chancellors of the universities of Dalarna, Malmö, Linköping and Gävle on the role of universities in creating a sustainable global community.

On Tuesday he addressed members of Dalarna University’s senior management in Falun on “Leadership for Change”.

Last week, on Friday, 10 August the Rector and SU’s Executive Director: Operations and Finance Prof Leopoldt van Huyssteen had a meeting in Stockholm with the Wallenberg Foundation.

The Rector also paid a courtesy visit to the Karolinska Institutet in Solna, a medical university that concluded a cooperation agreement with SU’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences earlier this year.

Prof Julian Smith, Vice-Rector: Community Interaction and Personnel, is currently acting rector.
