Centre for Chinese Studies Guest Lecture: Socio-Economic Trends and Prospects for Economic Development in Tibet (28 August)
Topic: Socio-Economic Trends and Prospects for Economic Development in Tibet
While western commentaries on Tibet tend to challenge Chinese state approaches to development in the region, little attention is given to views from within the PR China itself. This seminar will offer one of the perspectives on transformation within this contentious region. The presenters are two ethnic Tibetans from the People’s Republic of China: Luorong Zhandui, an economist at the China Tibetology Research Centre and Zha Luo, an anthropologist at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
