The oral examination of PhD candidate Mr S Heckroodt with the title A study for an expanded conceptual framework and the impact on current business environmental scanning – a systems approach will take place on 10 October 2012 at 14:00 in Room 715, CGW Schumann Building.

An outstanding thesis – a valuable contribution to science. It is suggested that the expanded conceptual framework through which business organisations can improve their current scanning activities and their ability to select appropriate strategies with a view to the enhancement of their competitive success be widely published. It will contribute to the much needed body of knowledge for business to assess their environment and to make improvements where necessary to survive in this period of recession. This research is highly acceptable in its application and moreover, this work can be used to benefit business as a whole in this unique application and can serve as basis to be expanded in further research to a wider application field.
