Applied mathematician receives prestigious regional fellowship for women

Applied mathematician Ms Sonia Woudberg of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Stellenbosch University is one of five recipients to receive a prestigious fellowship that aims to enhance women in science in Sub-Saharan Africa. She received one of the inaugural L’Oréal and UNESCO Regional Fellowships for Women in Science in Sub-Saharan Africa, worth $20 000 (around R145 000), at a function in Johannesburg last week.
