In March of 2014 doctoral candidate Tarryn Bannister contributed an article titled “Equal Access to Health Care Services for Survivors of Gender-Based Violence: A South African Perspective” to the special edition of the Equal Rights Review (ERR). The article is based on her 2012 LLM thesis titled: “The right to have access to health care service for survivors of gender-based violence.” To read her article, click here. The twelfth issue of the ERR contains a special section on equality and socio-economic rights, as well as an interview on the same subject with Geoff Budlender, practising barrister in South Africa and one of the founders of the Legal Resources Centre, and Iain Byrne, Acting Head of the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Team at Amnesty International. The ERR is a bi-annual peer-reviewed journal on equality produced by the Equal Rights Trust. The journal was launched in 2008 and is an interdisciplinary journal that contains legal, philosophical, sociological, and other social science discourses on equality. It serves as an integral resource for those seeking to combat discrimination or promote equality, be they academics, activists, practising lawyers, civil society organisations or others.
