SERAJ participant contributes a piece on role of the courts in balancing state expenditure

20151209_153623Dr Shanelle van der Berg recently published an opinion piece on how a capabilities approach can assist South African courts to ensure that government spending is proportionate to the socio-economic needs of vulnerable members of society. She is a Mellon Early Research Career Fellow and a participant in the Socio-Economic Rights and Administrative Justice (SERAJ) Research Project within the Department of Public Law at Stellenbosch University.
