Doctor van der Berg is leaving the Faculty of Law at Stellenbosch University at the end of July. She has made an enormous contribution to the faculty, and more specifically the Socio-Economic Rights and Administrative Justice (‘SERAJ’) Research Project, over the past 6 years. Doctor van der Berg first joined SERAJ as a post-graduate student in 2011 and successfully completed her doctoral dissertation entitled A capabilities approach to the judicial review of resource allocation decisions impacting on socio-economic rights in 2015 under the supervision of Prof Sandra Liebenberg and Geo Quinot. She has been co-lecturing Constitutional Law 312 with Prof Liebenberg since 2014 and has furthermore made a valuable contribution to SERAJ as a post-graduate supervisor. SERAJ will miss her enthusiastic approach to human rights law and wish her well with her new position at the South African Human Rights Commission where she will be the senior researcher.
