    Pre-departure:

    I was incredibly excited when I heard that I was going on an exchange to Northwestern University. Northwestern is in Evanston which is a suburb of the greater Chicago area. Going on an exchange for the first time is both exciting and daunting. There were many things to be organised and prepared before I could depart for the United States. Everything can seem a bit overwhelming, but if you take it step by step and ask for help when you need it there should not be any problems. Many people have gone on an exchange before and I found that the entire process had already been clearly mapped out for me. (more…)

    My name is Michael-john Dippenaar. I attended the University of Stellenbosch, studying my Bachelors in commerce (Honours) in Financial Analysis during 2016.

    I attended the Stanford Graduate School of Business in June/July of 2016, participating in the Summer Institute for General Management (SIGM) program.

    Pre-departure:

    Attending Stanford University Graduate School of Business is arguable the most defining decision I have made in my professional career.

    Pre-departure:

    I had initially planned to go on my exchange in the first semester of my third year. It was, however, about two weeks before the closing date for applications and despite my best efforts, there was no way I could complete it on time. I decided to plan to do my semester abroad for the second semester and this seemed to work well with my subject choices and many other factors.
