Sustainable IT Competency Centre formed on campus

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Having learnt from successfully driving other cross-institutional projects such as the web portal project, we are experimenting with creating another virtual structure to drive Sustainable IT (SustIT) across the university. There are many players involved who do not report into the IT Division, so we have formed the SustIT CC with the following goals:

  • Develop, share and disseminate knowledge through collaboration

EDUCAUSE resources in Sustainable IT

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

EDUCAUSE, an American association that promotes the intelligent use of ICT in higher education and of which we are an international member, has published useful information relating to sustainable and “green” IT practice in universities in the USA.

Visit EDUCAUSE’s Sustainable Campus and Green Computing pages for an overview of what’s available and consider joining the Sustainable IT Group listserv. Of value is a number of downloadable presentations from the EDUCAUSE 2008 conference published as How to go green: sustainable computing in Higher Ed.
