This 2019 research report is authored by Dr Selina Palm at the Unit for Religion and Development Research (URDR) at Stellenbosch University. It documents key findings from an empirical study of five church congregations in Cape Town, South Africa. It explores lessons from local churches seeking to be more inclusive of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) persons. The study was carried out in partnership with two South African civil society organisations - Inclusive and Affirming Ministries and The Other Foundation. It prioritises the voices of LGBTIQ persons in its interview-based methodology.
