Questions and Answers with Alexis Osborne:

Where did you first hear about Marion Island?
In 2014 I was working for the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, when my supervisor at the time, Alvan Gabriel, started talking about Marion Island in the office! I was immediately interested to hear all about his adventures. He was there about 4 times…can’t really remember which teams, I think M55 etc. After that I applied and the rest is history!
Your current job?
I am currently doing my MSc at University of Cape Town (UCT), studying Albatrosses and Petrels. Supervised by Prof Peter Ryan.
Any special memory of Marion Island?
The spiritual journey Marion Island brings is priceless and where friends become family!
