The conference will be held at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frammuseum.no\/\" target=\"_blank\">Fram Museum<\/a> in Oslo from the 21st to the 23rd of October 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The Polar Museums Network (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.polarmuseumsnetwork.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">PMN<\/a>) is a new initiative that strives to \u201cspread the knowledge of polar history, science and exploration\u201d. \u00a0It provides brief descriptions of museums, libraries and organisations involved in the polar regions that are listed by country in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spri.cam.ac.uk\/resources\/directory\/museums\/\" target=\"_blank\">SPRI Polar Directory<\/a> hosted by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spri.cam.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Scott Polar Research Institute<\/a> in Cambridge, UK. \u00a0Membership of the PMN is also open to all persons and institutions evidencing an abiding interest in the collection, preservation, research and interpretation of polar artefacts.<\/p>\n<p>Even though South Africa does not as yet have a polar museum that could form part of this network, Ria came up with a fantastic idea \u2013 a virtual museum.
