Organised by Student Recruitment, these events provided an excellent platform for the Library to engage with future students both online and in person.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Online Open Day: 6 April 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Online Open Day, which took place on 6 April 2024 featured a range of resources designed to give a virtual experience of the Library. The submissions included brochures in English and Afrikaans, a comprehensive FAQ section, a short video tour of the Library and its branches, and a detailed &#8216;stall&#8217; description with photographs. The online exhibition remains active until 31 July, allowing anyone who missed the initial event to explore the Library&#8217;s offerings. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.sun.ac.za\/open-day\/\">https:\/\/blogs.sun.ac.za\/open-day\/\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>In-Person Open Day: 20 April 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The in-person Open Day, held on 20 April 2024, was a highlight of the month, bringing the Library to life with tours and activities from 09h00 to 14h00. The Medicine &amp; Health Sciences Library also welcomed visitors during this time. A dedicated team of Library staff members worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth and engaging experience for all.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2618\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2618\" style=\"width: 525px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2618 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sun.ac.za\/bibnuus\/files\/2024\/07\/4-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2618\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Zisiwe Mnothoza<br \/>Junior Librarian : E-resources taking Library visitors on a tour<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem\">Visitor Statistics:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"markdown prose w-full break-words dark:prose-invert light\">\n<ul>\n<li>Guided Library Tours: 1160 participants<\/li>\n<li>Self-Guided Tours: 768 participants<\/li>\n<li>Total Visitors: 1928<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Visitor Feedback:<\/strong> The feedback from visitors was overwhelmingly positive, with comments such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cWow, very impressive!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWorld class library compared to other international libraries in New Zealand and Australia.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cA beautiful library with lots of space for the students.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe tour was very interesting and informative.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI want to study here, so that I can come to the library!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThank you for a lovely library tour and friendly staff.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI am definitely going to apply to study at SU.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI am very excited to go on a library tour.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI have to show my child this beautiful library; I studied here many years ago.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Medicine &amp; Health Sciences Library also received excellent feedback from its 400 visitors, with remarks highlighting the inviting space and useful facilities like the e-classroom and seminar rooms.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2624\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2624\" style=\"width: 525px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2624 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sun.ac.za\/bibnuus\/files\/2024\/07\/Picture1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.sun.ac.za\/bibnuus\/files\/2024\/07\/Picture1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.sun.ac.za\/bibnuus\/files\/2024\/07\/Picture1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.sun.ac.za\/bibnuus\/files\/2024\/07\/Picture1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.sun.ac.za\/bibnuus\/files\/2024\/07\/Picture1.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2624\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Medicine &amp; Health Sciences Library visitors during Open Day 2024<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem\">Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"markdown prose w-full break-words dark:prose-invert light\">\n<p>The 2024 SU Open Day events were a great success, showcasing the Library\u2019s vital role in the university experience. With 1928 visitors exploring the Library and its offerings, the event underscored the importance of these tours in attracting future students to Stellenbosch University.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to all who made these events possible and to our visitors for their enthusiastic participation.
