\"\"Professor Scott Carroll is an evolutionary biologist and ecologist affiliated with the University of California, Davis. His main research interests are in exploring contemporary evolution to better understand adaptive processes and how those processes can be harnessed to develop solutions to evolutionary challenges in food production, medical care, and environmental conservation.<\/p>\n

As a C\u00b7I\u00b7B Fellow, Scott will engage with C\u00b7I\u00b7B Core Team members, Prof Jaco Le Roux and Prof Mathieu Rouget. Scott will present a workshop on evolutionary management of native species to reduce the impacts of invaders (putting the neo- in neoclassical biological control). Workshop discussions will centre on opportunities and risks, develop principles for identifying productive target organisms and traits, types of control, managing integration into complex systems, and redirecting methods of classical biological control toward enhancing native phenotypes (e.g. selection for choice and performance, mass rearing).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
