To tackle that problem, the <span style=\"color: #ff9900\"><strong>EucXylo<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0research group attended a 3-day public speaking workshop from 20-22 June 2022, which was facilitated by Miss <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/zimbili-bonisiwe-sibiya-109875101\/?originalSubdomain=za\">Zimbili Sibiya<\/a> (Figure 1). The workshop took place at the <a href=\"https:\/\/stias.ac.za\/\">Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study<\/a> (STIAS) (Figure 2), which is known as a \u2018creative space for the mind\u2019.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1227 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogsdev.sun.ac.za\/eucxylo\/files\/2022\/06\/Picture1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"349\" height=\"378\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Figure 1: Miss Zimbili Sibiya, PhD candidate in Forest Operations, acted as workshop facilitator.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1229\" src=\"http:\/\/blogsdev.sun.ac.za\/eucxylo\/files\/2022\/06\/Picture2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1880\" height=\"1057\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Figure 2: The <strong>auditorium at STIAS<\/strong>, with superb acoustics and modern technology, provided an ideal venue for the workshop.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop focused on exploring our capacity as a communicator, improving our public speaking skills and equipping us with techniques we can use to enhance our skills. In this workshop Zimbili walked us through the process of becoming a better public speaker, allowing us to discuss the concerns and challenges we have when presenting and suggesting approaches we can use to improve.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1230 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogsdev.sun.ac.za\/eucxylo\/files\/2022\/06\/Picture3-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"876\" height=\"448\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Apart from the public speaking skills that we learned as a group; the sessions also provided an interactive environment that enabled the group to get to know each other better.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWords!
