With the holidays just around the corner, Helshoogte has officially closed for the recess, but our leadership team is still hard at work preparing for an exciting 2025! Here’s what we’re busy with to ensure the new year is one to remember:
Website Overhaul
We’re thrilled to announce that our website is getting a fresh new look! The revamped site will be more user-friendly and packed with useful information for both newcomers and current residents. We’re aiming to launch it before the end of the year, so stay tuned!
Welcoming Preparations
Welcoming is one of the most exciting times of the year, and we’re doing everything we can to make it unforgettable for all our newcomers. From informative sessions to fun activities, we’re pulling out all the stops to make sure every first-year feels at home from the moment they arrive.
Committee and Sports Fair
This year, we’re introducing a *Committee and Sports Fair* as part of the Welcoming program! It’s a chance for newcomers to see all the ways they can get involved, whether it’s through sports, leadership, or joining one of our house committees. We’re looking forward to seeing lots of new faces signing up and getting involved in Helshoogte life.
Connect and Vensters
We’re also preparing for Vensters, one of the most anticipated events of the student calendar. This year’s theme, *“The Sounds of Stellenbosch,”* promises to be a fantastic showcase of creativity and spirit. Our team is already hard at work to make sure it’s a memorable experience for everyone involved.
Floor Planning and Community Building
Creating a sense of community is at the heart of Helshoogte. That’s why we’re starting early with floor planning, brainstorming ideas for how we can build a positive and welcoming atmosphere on every floor. Whether it’s hosting small gatherings, fostering connections, or organizing floor traditions, we want every resident to feel like they’re part of something special.
