The Stellenbosch University Research Data Management Regulations advises SU researchers to use institutional ICT infrastructure and applications where available. This includes institutional storage options such as Microsoft OneDrive (for individual use) and Microsoft Teams (for collaborative use), that can be accessed by way of portal.office.com (select your ‘Work or school account’ and not your ‘Personal account’). 
 Please note that an SU researcher’s OneDrive account will be deactivated 180 days after their engagement with SU ends, and the data stored in their OneDrive account deleted. It is therefor important that researchers submit the data underpinning their research outputs to the SU data preservation repository – SUNScholarData.

Researchers can also request a Virtual Machine (VM) to run applications. VMs are costed according to the specification/parameters required. The VM ‘cost calculator’ can be used to estimate costs.
