Following a request from the Cape Town Science Centre, the Iimbovane project presented educators from schools in the Cape Town Metropole with a workshop on ant diversity and its applications in the classroom.

AfriSam awards funding to the Iimbovane Outreach Project

The Iimbovane Outreach Project, an initiative of the Centre for Invasion Biology, which aims to educate school learners about biodiversity and environmental change by using ants as indicator species, has received a very generous grant from AfriSam to continue their work in Western Cape schools.

Iimbovane ant project receives money to expand their colony

Project team members of the Iimbovane: Exploring South African Biodiversity and Change Outreach Project are celebrating a generous grant from Rand Merchant Bank that will allow them to bring Iimbovane to more schools in the Western Cape.

USA educators learn from Iimbovane

On Thursday, 02 July 2009, twenty-two science educators from various schools in the United States of America and South Africa visited the DST-NRF Centre of Excellence for Invasion Biology (C·I·B) as part of the Global Environmental Teachings (GET) Programme 2009.

Eager ant collectors receive their data

After four long months of never-ending washing, sorting and identifying ant species, the Iimbovane project team was once again ready to tackle the road for the annual data handover event. The data handover took place from the 14th to the 27th of August 2009.
