Stellenbosch University\u2019s Information Technology Division is rolling out upgrades to Windows 11 to ensure all university devices remain secure, up to date and optimised for performance. With Microsoft ending support for Windows 10, it is critical that devices transition to Windows 11 to continue receiving security updates and technical support.<\/p>\n

The IT configuration team has now made the Windows 11 upgrade available to all compatible Windows 10 devices. If your device is eligible, you can complete the upgrade at a time that suits you.<\/p>\n

How to upgrade<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

If your device is compatible:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.Click on <\/span>Start<\/span><\/strong> > <\/span>S<\/span>etting<\/span>s<\/span><\/strong> > <\/span>Update & security<\/span><\/strong> > <\/span>Windows update<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Look for <\/span>Windows 11, version 24H2<\/span><\/strong> under<\/span> View optional updates<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Select D<\/span>ownload and install<\/span><\/strong> to begin the upgrade.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. You can continue working while the installation takes place. <\/span>You\u2019ll<\/span> be prompted<\/span> when a restart is required.<\/span><\/p>\n

If<\/span> you do not see the Windows 11 upgrade listed<\/span>, your device may require assessment<\/span>.<\/span> Please log a request via the ICT Partner Portal<\/a>, select<\/span> \u201cU<\/span>pgrade my compute<\/span>r<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/strong> and complete the form. A technician will then contact you to assess your device and advise on the next steps.<\/span><\/p>\n
