\"\"When Telkom<\/em> is mentioned in conversation, it’s usually not in a particularly positive light – whether it’s justified or not. We all know the tongue in cheek reference to the company as “Hellkom”. But the past month Telkom<\/em> made a commendable attempt to improve their negative image.<\/p>\n

The first indication of this was seen with an announcement on 20 September which stated that the speed of all ADSL packages will be in increased at no extra cost. From November Telkom<\/em> will increase the speed of connections for clients who use 1Mbps, to 2Mbps, 2Mbps to 4Mbps and 4Mbps to 10Mbps. In future the “Up to 4 096\/10 240 kbps” package will be split into two categories – \u00a0\u2018Up to 4 096 kbps\u2019 and \u2018Up to 10 240 kbps\u2019.<\/p>\n

According to Managing Executive of Wholesale, \u00a0Casper Kondo Chihaka, this upgrade will enable clients to obtain higher speed subject to the existing network conditions.<\/p>\n

Other than this welcome windfall,\u00a0<\/em>the company\u00a0also announced that Telkom internet subcribers, for a limited period, will be allocated unlimited data for selected multimedia and gaming services. The two Telkom services included in this promotion are\u00a0Do Movies<\/em>\u00a0en\u00a0Do Gaming. <\/em>When Telkom<\/em> clients use these services, data will not be deducted from the monthly in-bundle cap.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Do Movies\u00a0<\/em>promotion offers unlimited data from 1\u00a0Oktober to 31 March for\u00a0DStv Catch Up online<\/em>,\u00a0DStv BoxOffice online, Apple TV <\/em>through iTunes<\/em> and the\u00a0Samsung Video Hub.<\/em><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Do Gaming <\/em>option offers unlimited data on gaming platforms and servers from\u00a04 October for 30 days from service activation. The free data platforms include the\u00a0PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Battle.net, Steam, Origin<\/em>\u00a0and the\u00a0Do Gaming<\/em>\u00a0servers.<\/p>\n

All data used on these platforms, whether \u00a0it’s used for online gaming or downloading patches or games, will not be deducted from clients’ normal data usage. If, after 30 days of free gaming, you’d like to continue using the\u00a0Do Gaming<\/em> service, you can subscribe at a cost of R49 per month.

Volgens\u00a0Casper Kondo Chihaka, Telkom<\/em> se Uitvoerende direkteur van groothandel, sal die opgradering aan kli\u00ebnte die geleentheid bied om ‘n vinniger spoed te bereik, afhangende van die bestaande netwerktoestande.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Buiten hierdie ADSL-meevallertjie, het die maatskappy ook aangekondig dat Telkom internet-intekenare vir `n beperkte tydperk onbeperkte data sal ontvang vir sekere multimedia- en speletjiedienste. Die twee Telkomdienste wat ter sprake is, is Do Movies<\/em> en Do Gaming. <\/em>Wanneer Telkom internetgebruikers hierdie dienste gebruik, sal data nie van die maandelikse kwota data afgetrek word nie.<\/span><\/p>\n

Die\u00a0Do Movies\u00a0<\/em>promosie bied onbeperkte data vanaf 1 Oktober tot 31 Maart vir DStv Catch Up online<\/em>,\u00a0DStv BoxOffice online, Apple TV\u00a0<\/em>deur middel van\u00a0iTunes<\/em> en die Samsung Video Hub.<\/em><\/p>\n

Alle data wat op hierdie platforms gebruik word, hetsy dit vir aanlyn speletjies, die aflaai van `n speletjie of programveranderings is, sal nie afgetrek word van kli\u00ebnte se normale datagebruik nie. Indien jy na die 30 gratis dae wil aanhou om die Do Gaming<\/em>\u00a0diens te gebruik, kan jy dit aankoop teen R49 per maand.\u00a0<\/p>\n
