Recent additions include JoVE, SYNTHIA, and the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. Some of these resources have been on our wishlist for several years, but budget constraints made it difficult to acquire them. It aligns with the University\u2019s bolder ambition to feature among the world\u2019s top 100 institutions and supports its focus on impactful research, as outlined in SU\u2019s core strategic themes.<\/p>\n<p>With this subscription, those who are curious about where the world\u2019s top universities stand, and how Stellenbosch University measures up, now have this information at their fingertips. THE\u00a0 rankings focus on core areas such as research, teaching, citations, industry income, and international outlook.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SYNTHIA&#x2122;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sun.ac.za\/libraryresearchnews\/files\/2025\/07\/SYNTHIA.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4310\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sun.ac.za\/libraryresearchnews\/files\/2025\/07\/SYNTHIA.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Are you a curious chemist wanting to explore new resources?<\/p>\n<p>RETROSYNTHESIS Software SYNTHIA is a professional design tool that is mainly tailored for your needs. What makes SYNTHIA special is that it is \u2018expert-coded\u2019 with all the rules of organic chemistry as we have learned them (there are over 120,000 of them). What sets SYNTHIA apart, is that it takes into account protective groups, if required, as well as regio- and stereochemistry, and electronic effects. It is a very handy resource for chemists.<\/p>\n<p>All first-time users need to complete the self-registration to use SYNTHIA.<\/p>\n<p>These new tools demonstrate our continued commitment to supporting the core business of the University.
