Many people have referred to out-of-classroom experience as \u201cextra\u201d meaning outside of the curriculum. Today it is widely recognized that most out-of-classroom experiences, done right, can help students learn, grow, and develop. Co-curriculum educational experience can include: leadership positions in student organizations, volunteer work, athletics, etc. These opportunities help students get hands-on experience and develop important skills and competencies needed for post-graduate success.<\/p>\n

Opportunities recorded on the Co-curriculum have been verified by the Co-curriculum Recognition Committee, using the following criteria:<\/p>\n
\n- Must have a clear connection to the university and be capable of being validated by a full-time member of the faculty or staff.<\/li>\n
- Must be aligned to the SU graduates attributes, develop identified competencies and transferable skills.<\/li>\n
- Must provide an opportunity for experiential learning. Positions or activities that are primarily symbolic, and do not require significant programming and duties, will not qualify to be listed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
