Considerations for appointment

The following will be considered:

  • Qualification:
    • Degree or diploma in education and relevant field of subject specialisation.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of five years of teaching at Grade 12 level (or equivalent qualification), preferably within the last eight years.
    • Internal and/or external moderation experience at regional, national or international level.
    • Experience in marking national-level examination papers.
    • Field and assessment expertise in the subject of application.
    • Relevant professional development experience will also be considered, i.e. attending previous External Moderator workshops, relevant training programmes, or previous contributions to curriculum design.
  • Required skills:
    • Advanced computer literacy skills, including proficiency in online collaboration tools and platforms.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to conduct external moderation and verification in English (and/or Afrikaans, applicable for ISC). For African or foreign languages assessed, proficiency in English and the specific language is required.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team and within tight timeframes.
    • Adaptability to digital tools and processes.
  • Required resources:
    • Own personal computer;
    • Private and secure email address;
    • Fast and reliable/stable internet connectivity.
    • Familiarity with or access to security protocols and software, secure cloud storage.
    • South African bank account.
