Voorbereiding:<\/span><\/p>\n

Wat \u2018n lekker tyd l\u00ea vir jou voor! Die Europese Besigheidskool se somerskool is \u2018n belewenis en iets wat nie werklik vasgevang kan word in \u2018n blog nie. Jy gaan vriendskappe smee met wonderlike mense en plekke sien wat so ryk aan geskiedenis is dat jy klein voel.<\/p>\n

Voor jy egter daar kan kom en die lekker ervaar moet jy die administratiewe gedeelte afhandel. Daar is sekere dinge wat net gedoen moet word, en hoe vinniger jy dit doen, hoe beter. Die grootste strik waarin jy kan trap is om dinge uit te stel want dit gaan jou meer geld kos, maar ook inmeng met jou Junie eksamen en dis ongerieflik. Eerste ding wat jy doen is bespreek jou vliegtuigkaartjie as jy jou datums het. Jy kan altyd travelstart.co.za<\/i> dophou vir goeie aanbiedinge. Ek het na Student Flights gegaan om \u2018n kwotasie te kry en hulle het toevallig die goedkoopste vlugte gehad en dan nog afslag op daardie vlug ook gegee. So dis die veiligste. Jou goedkoopste lugredery sal Qatar, Emirates of Etihad Airways wees. Ons het met Etihad gevlieg het en \u2018n baie aangename vlug gehad.<\/p>\n

Die volgende stap is om jou VISA te kry. Vir die Schengen Visa maak jy \u2018n elektroniese afspraak by die ambassade en gaan dan daarheen met al jou dokumentasie. Maak dubbel seker dat jy al jou dokumente het aangesien die mense nie baie tyd het vir mense wat met die helfte van hul dokumente daar opdaag nie. Ek het my VISA verniet gekry omdat die vrou ges\u00ea het dis vir akademiese redes. Onthou ook dat indien jy voor of na die tyd wil toer jy reeds bewys van daardie verblyf moet h\u00ea as jy vir jou VISA gaan. EBS sal vir jou \u2018n brief stuur wat jou akkomodasie bevestig vir die drie weke wat jy daar is.<\/p>\n

Geld gewys het ek \u2018n Cash Passport by ABSA gekry. Dit is \u2018n Mastercard en werk die beste. Mastercard word orals aanvaar en met die Cash Passport betaal jy nie om die kaart te \u201cswipe\u201d nie. Jy betaal egter baie geld om te trek. Neem dus genoeg geld in kontant en genoeg op die kaart saam.<\/p>\n

Klere gewys kan jy somersklere pak met \u2018n paar warm truie. Dis gemiddeld twintig grade maar in ons tyd was daar ook \u2018n hittegolf wat die kwik tot diep dertigs laat styg het. \u2018n Re\u00ebnbaadjie is ook \u2018n goeie roep aangesien daar gereeld \u2018n bietjie re\u00ebn uitsak. Pak ook gemaklike skoene aangesien jy bitter baie loop.\u00a0 Los egter genoeg plek in jou tas sodat jy sjokolade, bier, tee, klere ens. kan saam terugbring.<\/p>\n

In Germany:<\/span><\/p>\n

The accommodation was very comfortable. I shared a flat with three other guys, two Maties and one American. We had our own kitchen, bathroom and lived above a bakery which had the best bread rolls and croissants. The rooms were comfortable, but do not expect curtains.\u00a0 Four girls lived above us which were nice as there was always someone to chat to. We had to make breakfast and dinner for ourselves, but had lunch at EBS. The lunch cost 3.95 Euro and you could have as much food as your plate could take. My suggestion would be to have a big lunch to save money on dinner. Dinner can be bought at the supermarkets where instant food, pastas and cheese are much cheaper than in South Africa.<\/p>\n

EBS is a wonderful university but a lot smaller than Stellenbosch. They only have 2 500 students so do not expect huge buildings. The buildings are beautiful and all the classrooms state of the art. The academic side was not that intensive and classes were a lot more hands on than at Stellenbosch. You have to listen in class as there are two exams, one after each week. It is not that difficult but you have to have an idea about the subject. I really enjoyed the subjects especially as I have a BComm background. We also had philosophy which I found very interesting. The lecturers are on par with Stellenbosch and most of them young and vibrant. We had company visits to the Opel Manufacturing Plant, Aldi Sud Discounter Store and the European Parliament. This is an awesome part of the course and you will enjoy it. I really enjoyed the trip to the Parliament as it gives you a chance to see France as well.<\/p>\n

Of course you have to travel on weekends. Do not worry with whom you are going to travel, you will make friends there and the Maties stick together.\u00a0 If you want to travel in Germany the best thing to buy is the German Rail Pass for x amount of days. We paid 162 Euro for 4 days and traveled to Munich, Heidelberg, Berlin, Frankfurt and back to Oestrich-Winkel by train. My suggestion would be to do Munich the one weekend (best beer and real German vibe) and Berlin the next (awesome history and so beautiful). When traveling, be sure to book accommodation before you get there as this gives you more time to sight see.\u00a0 Also, take time to see Oestrich-Winkel and the surrounding areas. Oestrich has great wine farms and Rudesheim has a cable car that takes you up a mountain to a majestic view.<\/p>\n

The best part of Germany is the bread, beer, pizza and efficiency. Trains will 8\/10 times be on time and you will get to eat the best bread and drink the most interesting beers. Every pub has different breweries so you can have a lot of different tastes. Be mindful of Germans regarding their time and wasting it. If you are one minute late they will most probably get angry. Furthermore you can get excited about the welcome dinner in the cellar, the wine tour at the end and all the great people you are going to meet.<\/p>\n

Terug na Suid-Afrika:<\/span><\/p>\n

Om terug te keer na die wonderlike drie weke kom gepaard met gemengde gevoelens. Dis hartseer om die mense te groet, maar dis ook lekker om te dink jy keer terug na jou plek. Mens kom op \u2018n punt waar jy \u2018n stukkie rooivleis, Afrikaans en die Afrika sonsak weer wil sien. Ons het teruggevlieg die dag na die afsluiting, maar indien jy nog wil toer sal ek dit definitief aanbeveel. EBS re\u00ebl jou vervoer na en van die lughawe af so daaroor hoef jy nie te bekommer nie.<\/p>\n

Maak seker dat jy altyd die EBS bewys en jou paspoort by jou dra. Jy kan op enige oomblik gevra word om jouself te identifiseer. Koop ook eerder liefs \u2018n treinkaartjie as jy op \u2018n trein gaan. Indien hulle jou vir jou kaartjie vra en jy het nie een nie is daar \u2018n 40 euro boete. Verder is die vlug terug heerlik om te ontspan en terug te dink aan die drie weke wat verby is. Jy sal nie sommer jet-lag kry as jy terug is in Suid-Afrika nie aangesien ons in dieselfde tydsone as Duitsland is.<\/p>\n

Jy gaan egter vinnig weer gewoond moet raak aan die koue aangesien dit dan in Suid-Afrika winter is en die eerste paar dae sal jy net bitter moeg wees. Indien jy nagraads is, is dit dan ook maar die tyd om aan die skripsie te werk en dit vat nogals aan \u2018n man om weer akademies te verkeer.<\/p>\n

Die somerskool is tyd gewys perfek. Vier weke sal te lank wees en twee te kort. Dit gee definitief vir jou \u2018n ander uitsig op die w\u00eareld en is bitter insiggewend vir ons wat nie juis baie van die Europese unie weet nie. Dit help jou om geleenthede raak te sien en te sien waarheen Suid-Afrika kan gaan. Dit laat jou ook Suid-Afrika waardeer en trots wees om \u2018n Matie te wees.<\/p>\n

Ek hoop jy is opgewonde vir die beste drie weke van jou jaar!<\/p>\n
