Dedicated professional staff are available to assist all student at Tygerberg campus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Before\u00a0registered counsellors can direct you to the correct form of therapy or group intervention, they need to conduct a thorough screening to conclude what challenges you are experiencing and how they can best help.\u200b\u00a0To make\u00a0an\u00a0appointment contact the<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sun.ac.za\/english\/learning-teaching\/student-affairs\/cscd\/psychotherapeutic-support\">CSCD Psychotherapeutic and Support Services Unit (PTSS)<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\">on\u00a0021\u00a0938 9590\u00a0or e-mail\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"ms-rteForeColor-3\" lang=\"EN-US\"><a href=\"mailto:supportus@sun.ac.za\"><span class=\"ms-rteForeColor-3\" lang=\"EN-GB\"><strong>supportus@sun.ac.za<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"ms-rteForeColor-3\" lang=\"EN-GB\"><strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><h5 class=\"ms-rteElement-H4B\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><br \/>INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING SESSIONS\u200b<\/span><\/h5><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u200bShort-term individual counselling or therapy is offered to SU students only. Once you have been screened and depending on the nature of your challenge, the counsellor or psychologist will work with you to find the best possible solution.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><h5 class=\"ms-rteElement-H4B\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><br \/>GROUP COUNSELLING SESSIONS\u200b<\/span><\/h5><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Certain challenges are better managed in a group setting, where you can find support from peers who are experiencing similar problems or challenges.\u00a0During screening, if appropriate,\u00a0the counsellor will advise you on the group process and make the necessary referral.\u200b\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Additional\u00a0services include online psychological skills training<\/span>\u200b facilitated by professional and trained psychologists at the CSCD. These skills are grounded in \u200bcognitive behavioural therapy and will assist students in dealing with depression and anxiety.
