Tygerberg Undergraduate Research Society (SURGE)

Q – Tygerberg Undergraduate Research Society (Q) is dedicated to undergraduate research at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), Stellenbosch University. We represent a diverse group of health sciences students who share a common interest in research. As such, we aim to promote interest in research and evidence-based practices within the student body, as well as to support students who are contemplating or conducting research projects of their own.

Stellenbosch University Surgical Society (SUSS)

A student-driven society based at Tygerberg Campus, aiming to promote the art and science of surgery among students within the health sciences.

 

Stellenbosch University Psychiatry Society

The Stellenbosch University Psychiatry Society aims to create a platform to promote further education and interests in not only Psychiatry but the interesting field of mental health as a whole.

 

Stellenbosch University Anatomy Society (SUAS)

A society where students and staff affiliated with the FMHS, SU have the opportunity to develop their shared interests in anatomy within the clinical context.

Friends of MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières)

FoMSF aims to raise awareness about the incredible work that MSF does and to encourage students to live out MSF’s ethos already as students in our every day lives in the clinical setting.

 

KIDS Society

We are a group of students that are passionate about children. Once a week,we visit the children admitted in TBH paediatric units. We have lots of fun playing with our small friends.

 

SPECTRUM!

SPECTRUM! Society Tygerberg aims to represent and support the Queer community on Tygerberg. This includes advocacy in policy-making, events on campus to bring our community together and working to improve awareness, tolerance and inclusion of Queer bodies on campus.

 

Stellenbosch University Stoic Society

The Society aims to promote awareness of the principles of Stoic philosophy and encourage the study and reflection of the origins and Stoicism and its application in current affairs. Our mission is to foster a culture of courteous enquiry, discussion and debate about Stoicism and related philosophies; to inspire people to contemplate the behavior of their role models; and to reflect on their own behavior in order to live mindfully.

 

IFMSA-SA

IFMSA brings people together to exchange, discuss and initiate projects to create a healthier world. It gives its members the skills and resources to be health leaders. It advocates for pressing issues that matter to shape the world we want. And it does deliver: our projects, our campaigns and our activities positively impact the physicians-to be and the communities they serve.

MATIES BALLROOM AND LATIN AMERICAN DANCE SOCIETY

We are a society established to promote the learning and enjoyment of Ballroom and Latin American dances in a social environment. We provide classes at both the Stellenbosch and Tygerberg campuses. Outside of formal class times, we host various social events throughout the year to create a sense of community within the society, as well as to attract new people to the society.

 

Tygerberg Gospel Choir

The Tygerberg Gospel Choir consist of a group of Stellenbosch University Medical and Health Sciences students who are inspired by the Word of God and use music as a platform to spread the Gospel. We are all from different denominations but we serve the one and only true living God

 

Stellenbosch University Medical Orchestra (SUMO)

The orchestra was formed to provide health science students and members of the medical community with a place to come together and make music. The orchestra exists for the enjoyment of music and aims to allow people who play an instrument to play with other people, under the baton of a conductor.

Kenridge Connect Society

A society in conjunction with NG Kenridge Congregation (church), serving to build and grow a community for students on campus and ministering to the spiritual needs of its members.

 

Tygerberg SDASM

The Seventh-day Adventist Student Movement (SDASM) is a derivative of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. We are a group of students awaiting for and looking forward to the Second-coming of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to share this hope with our fellow students at Stellenbosch University and the community alike.

Stellenbosch University Physicians’ Society

The vision of Physicians’ Society is to create an environment on Tygerberg campus where students and staff can express their interest in the internal medicine speciality. The society plans to organise and host special tutorials, events and workshops catered to educate, encourage and inspire members.

 

Occupational Therapy Students’ Committee

We promote student wellness through planning and coordinating events, such as the OT dances and socials, to boost morale and build stronger bonds both within our department and with other students on campus.

 

University of Stellenbosch Student Physiotherapy Society (USFFV)

The USSFV is a society who represents all the physiotherapy students of Stellenbsoch University. We are passionate for supporting students to be holistic in terms of academic responsibilities, mental wellness and social interactions. We realize that our 4 years of studies are tough and that recognizing that there is a whole community supporting us is what makes it all worth it.
