Conference on Law and Religion in Africa

This joint conference of the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Theology will take place from 26 – 28 May 2014 and will focus on the theme “Law and Religion in Africa – The Quest for the Common Good in Pluralistic Societies” as well as the following subthemes: 

  • African traditional law / religion
  • Human rights and human dignity ( which includes discussion regarding children, disabled persons, the elderly and women)
  • Law, religion and ecological issues (which includes discussion regarding the ecology, climate change and fracking)
  • Theological approaches to the theme (all disciplines)
  • Philosophical approaches to the theme
  • Religious freedoms and rights
  • Religion-State relations
  • Legal perspectives and religion
  • Religious perspectives and law
