RECENT SHOW RESULTS
Maties Junior riders Mari Scheepers and Joseph Garnham competed in 70cm and 80 cm show jumping at SRDC on May 18th. Mari and her mount Lance won their first class! Well done!
On May 5th, MEC held its first Amazing Race since 2009 with great success! 12 junior and senior teams (2 person plus one horse) tackled the course that had all horses and riders challenged in coordination, problem solving and riding skills! Junior section victory went to the Garnham brothers on Maties Conna Bay and the Senior section victory went to Anna Baauw/Ursina Rusch on Maties Artex.
Maties Senior riders Andrea Trollip/La Falda, Julie Lustgarden/Holden, Cheree Canny/Ballesteros and Danielle Cronje/Hiawatha competed at the Winelands Derby 27-28 April and brought home 2nd and 4th place ribbons in the 80cm and 90cm show jumping classes on Saturday! All riders participated in the Derby on Sunday where they produced great rounds!
Maties Junior Riders owned the areas at the 2nd round SANESA Qualifier in Robertson from 19-21 April! The boys and girls brought home a total of 17 ribbons, including two 1st places, in show jumping, working hunter and showing classes. Photos to follow shortly!
Maties riders Julie Lustgarden with Holden and Andrea Trollip with La Falda competed in the 80cm and 90cm show jumping classes at Constantia Riding Club this past Saturday, 6 April. Both riders put down great rounds, and Julie just missed the placings in the 80cm class.
Maties Junior Saddlebred rider Lisa Gouws and her Miami Drift placed 2nd in the Western Province Reinsman League (under 10 yrs division) on the 29th of March, which ran cumulative scores from February 2012 to February 2013.
Maties Junior riders had a very successful first SANESA qualifier outing at SDRC on the 16th March 2013. They brought home six ribbons in total with two 1st place and four 2nd place ribbons!

Maties Equestrian held a very successful Dressage and Show Jumping Show on 24 February 2013! Maties Riders excelled with one win (PN Preliminary 1) and two second places (PN Preliminary 2, PN Preliminary 4) out of four Dressage classes as well as two wins and two second places in the 40cm, 60cm, 70cm and 80cm Show Jumping classes. Visitors
Maties Equestrian received a visit from the cast of ”The Ride” in January 2012, a TV series which features modern-day equestrian adventurers Barry Armitage and Joe Dawson as they re-enact great historical horse journeys. Maties enjoyed the speech and Q and A session and helped contribute to Joe and Barry’s fund-raising activities for animal-based charities.
