This year, the essence of #MandelaDay – take action and inspire change, is more important than ever with communities across the world being affected by the spread of #Covid19 causing new social and economic challenges and exacerbating old ones. These have galvanised cross-sections of our society into action and this newfound camaraderie is greatly needed in the fight against this invisible enemy.
This year MBHG members took part in the Ladles of Love initiative World Record attempt for: The most sandwiches made in one hour. The initiative was a resounding success – breaking the record with an astonishing 304,583 sandwiches made! Pictured here is Dr Leigh Kotze, a postdoctoral fellow within our centre, making her mountain of 60 sandwiches for delivery to her designated area drop point, together with some non-perishable items.
