The For Women in Science program, led by the L’Oréal Foundation in partnership with UNESCO, aims to promote women in the field of scientific research. The regional Young Talents Sub-Saharan Africa program recognises young female researchers contributing through their work to building the continent’s future

Among the Young Talent Sub-Saharan Africa 2019 awardees are two of MBHG finest, namely:

CARINE KUNSEVI-KILOLA – PhD candidate originating from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Her research projects involves characterization of Human alveolar macrophages and monocytes derived macrophages responses to Mycobacterium tuberculosis in tuberculosis close contacts with and without Type 2 diabetes.

GEORGINA NYAWO – PhD candidate originating from Zimbabwe. Her research projects involves assessing the microbiome in patients with tuberculosis to develop novel diagnostic interventions and therapeutics.
