Infection Prevention and Control
The SURMEPI IPC Programme aims to:
- increase numbers of rural HCW with Infection Prevention and Control training.
- expand undergraduate medical teaching in IPC.
- support the development of specialised IPC skills through post-graduate training.
All IPC training activities are centred around the SU Rural Clinical School, and its affiliated rural healthcare facilities in the Cape Winelands District (CWD).
To date 161 healthcare managers and healthcare workers in the CWD have received training in IPC. The SURMEPI-IPC programme is also
developing an e-learning programme in IPC for rural healthcare workers and publishing a book and e-book for self-managed distance learning in IPC.
