SPEAKER’S ADDRESS
“Good Afternoon to the Tygerberg Student Union, Members of the SRC, Speaker of Stellenbosch Parliament, Committee members of the TSP,
I am humbled by the trust that you have bestowed upon me, aware of the challenges that our university and country faces as a whole , but also alive to the fact that our students are filled with hope for a better tomorrow and are resilit and willing to make their future a brighter and more prosperous one .
The art of true leadership is found in servanthood .Having said that I would like to say that we as the body of the TSP is here to serve you the students of the Tygerberg Community . We are a structure that is approachable and willing to assist in a manner that will ensure that structures are held accountable for promises made and that all students are represented equally in the aims of supporting you all to ensure that your time here at Tygerberg is memorable and that we can assist you to ensure that you do achieve the ambitions that you set out for yourself .
I believe that our daily deeds as students of this prestigious university must produce an actual student community that will reinforce humanity’s belief in justice, strengthen its confidence in the nobility of the human soul and sustain all our hopes for glorious life for all taking into account the constitution of our university and the Republic respectively .
We trust that you will continue to stand by us as we tackle the challenges of building peace, prosperity, non-sexism, non-racialism and democracy within the student community .
We know it well that none of us acting alone can achieve success – as alone we go fast but together, we go far .We must therefore act together as a united TygerMatie Community to achieve various milestones .
In closing , I would like to quote the great , Former of the Republic President Nelson Mandela
Let there be justice for all.
Let there be peace for all.
Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all.
Never, never and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another and suffer the indignity of being the skunk of the world.
Let freedom reign.
The sun shall never set on so glorious a human achievement!
God bless Tygerberg !
I thank you.”
