MBHG Veggie Box Project

To support a local business and alleviate some of the financial burden imposed as a result of the nationwide Lockdown, MBHG allocated R15 000.00 in funds towards a Veggie Box initiative, in collaboration with Valota Farming in the Philippi, to feed members of the communities in which we serve. Notably, almost 1/3 of these funds are from personal contributions made by researchers within the division.

The first batch of veggie boxes was delivered on Wednesday, 15 April and are being distributed by our field workers in local clinics with which we have standing partnerships for research activities. These deliveries will continue over the next 5 weeks and will be spread to over 10 clinics within the Cape Town area.

One box is valued at R100 and contains:

  • 1kg carrots
  • 2kg potatoes
  • 2kg onions
  • 1kg sweet potatoes
  • 1butternut
  • 1 bunch spinach
  • 1 head lettuce
  • 1 head cauliflower
