SUNJournals & SUNConferences

Apply with Thomson Reuters to have an impact factor assigned to your journal

If you are interested in the above – please visit http://thomsonreuters.com/products_services/science/free/essays/journal_selection_process/ for information on the selection process, as well as the procedure. It is a two year process, and something that has to be done by the Editor of a journal him-/herself. If your journal is hosted on different platforms, make Thomson Reuters aware of it since they will need to take usage statistics from all the various platforms into account.

Register for accreditation by the Dept. of Higher Education and Training

Any SA University receives up to R 128 000,00 per article published in an accredited journal. If you want to apply for accreditation of your journal title with the DHET, please follow the procedure at: http://wiki.lib.sun.ac.za/images/2/2a/Accreditation_dohe.pdf . The titles listed in the following indexes, are also DHET accredited:

•  How do I register my journal with the International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (IBSS)?<http://www.proquest.co.uk/assets/downloads/products/ibss_editorialpoliciesprinciples.pdf>

•  How do I submit my journal title to the Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index or the Arts and Humanities Citation Index?<http://thomsonreuters.com/products_services/science/free/essays/journal_selection_process/>

The ideal would be to have each journal from the first issue online available. If you can maybe provide us with the digital files (properly digitised and OCR’ed) for each issue and volume, we can assist with uploading it to your journal. Looking very much forward to hear from you!

Publishing journals using OJS

During the Berlin 10 OA Conference, a workshop will be hosted on using OJS to publish your journal. Hope you will be able to attend! See http://www.berlin10.org/workshops.html for more information.

Hosting conferences (SUNConferences)

Similar to OJS, we are also busy with a pilot project for hosting online conferences – from the call for abstracts up to publishing the conference proceedings. If you are interested in hosting a conference using Open Conference Systems<http://pkp.sfu.ca/?q=ocs>, please let me know. As with SUNScholar and SUNJournals, all will at the same time be digitally preserved for the long term. See http://conferences.sun.ac.za
